Basketball Recap: Cocoa Skates Past Rockledge with Ease

Cocoa won the last time they faced Rockledge and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cocoa Tigers breezed past the Rockledge Raiders to the tune of 62-31. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Cocoa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gianna Conklin-Jones, who went 12 of 23 on her way to 27 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Conklin-Jones is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Sophia Bass was another key player, going 8 for 20 to rack up 23 points and seven assists.

Conklin-Jones wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Cocoa was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockledge only posted four assists.

When it comes to explaining why Rockledge lost, don't look at Jordyn Bradley. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Tierra Johnson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Cocoa is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points over those games. As for Rockledge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Cocoa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-7 win against Astronaut on the 4th. As for Rockledge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-35 loss against Heritage on the 31st.
