Top 6 returning high school football sackers for 2015

The nation's best pass rushers come from six different states.

Take a look at these high school football players who get to the quarterback on a regular basis.

There's one surefire way to stop the onslaught of high-octane passing attacks that are flying rampant around the nation: sack the quarterback.

These six did it better than any returning 2015 players, with four tied at the top.

1. (Tie) Mark Evanchick, Darien (Conn.)
The 6-foot, 228-pound defensive end finished tied for sixth in the country with 25 sacks last season for the 11-1 Blue Wave, who lost 21-20 in the Class L-Large Division championship to New Canaan. Evanchick, also a lacrosse standout, had 80 tackles overall, and more than a quarter of those were sacks. He had at least two sacks in eight of his team's 12 games with a high of four in a 41-0 win over Bassick.

1T. Kwanzi Jackson, Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.)
The 6-3, 240-pound senior defensive end and outside linebacker also had 25 sacks among his 84 tackles for the 12-2 Hurricanes, who lost in the state 8A semifinals to eventual champion Apopka. The Tulane commit opened 2014 with 5.5 sacks in a 37-20 win over Seminole.

1T. Marquiss Spencer, Greenwood (Miss.)

The 6-5, 230-pound defensive end and kicker had 150 tackles including 25 sacks in 2014. He's ranked the No. 26 defensive end in the country, according to 247Sports. His likely destination is Mississippi State, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

1T. Lance Moore, Weddington (Matthews, N.C.)

The 6-2, 220-pound outside linebacker recorded 72 solo tackles (105 overall) and was tied for sixth in the nation with 25 sacks last year. He had three sacks each in a 37-10 win over Marvin Ridge and a 24-21 triumph over Cuthbertson to win the state 3AA title game.



5T. Mark Hooker, Stone Ridge Christian (Merced, Calif.)
The 6-foot, 210-pound senior defensive end and tight end had 22 sacks among his 99 tackles for the 11-2 Knights, who won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII title. Hooker had four sacks in a 67-32 first-round win over Brookside Christian for a defense that had six shutouts. The last shutout was 42-0 over Delta in the SJS final.

5T. Torrez Finney, Jones County (Gray, Ga.)

Finney is a 5-8, 205-pound senior nose guard who had 123 tackles and 22 sacks for the 10-3 Greyhounds. Finney had 15 tackles and three sacks in a 43-6 win over Greenbrier, and 11 tackles and three sacks in a 45-7 win over Grovetown. He caused six fumbles on the season.
