Basketball Game Preview: Burlington Elks vs. Canton Tigers

The Burlington Elks will head out to face off against the Canton Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Thursday, Burlington had to suffer through a 83-48 loss at the hands of Deer Creek-Lamont. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Eagles are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, Canton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Cherokee, falling 46-26.

Burlington has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Burlington came out on top in a nail-biter against Canton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 51-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burlington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
