Basketball Recap: Lake Lure Classical Academy Gets the Win

Lake Lure Classical Academy hasn't had much luck at home recently (they'd lost three straight) but thanks in part to Landry Mize that streak is no more. The Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors walked away with a 27-18 win over the Challenger Firebirds on Tuesday thanks in part to Mize, who posted 12 points along with five boards and five blocks. She has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played.

London Camp was another key player, putting up four points and eight rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Lake Lure Classical Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Challenger, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Lure Classical Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hickory Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Challenger will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Temple Baptist at 4:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Temple Baptist's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Challenger's offense will have their work cut out for them.
