Baseball Game Preview: Northshore Panthers vs. Covington Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Northshore took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Archbishop Hannan onto the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Northshore got a great performance from Carson Malasovich as he didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Northshore saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Cantrelle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Cantrelle has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Covington posted their biggest victory since April 12, 2024 on Monday. They blew past East Ascension 10-0.

Northshore's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-1-1. As for Covington, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0.

Northshore came out on top in a nail-biter against Covington in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will Northshore repeat their success, or does Covington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
