Football Game Preview: Greenwood Bulldogs vs. Senatobia Warriors + Official Tickets

Greenwood is 0-3 against Senatobia since October of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

Greenwood is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 32 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Louisville on Friday. They took a blow against the Wildcats, falling 37-6. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Wildcats are ranked 14th).

Greenwood might have lost, but man, Jawuan Gideon was a machine: he picked up 52 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 95 yards.

Meanwhile, Senatobia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points) and they went ahead and made it three last Thursday. They blew past the Tigers, posting a 35-7 victory. The Warriors pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Greenwood better keep an eye on Jay Irby. He was instrumental in Senatobia's win, rushing for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 53 yards and one TD on only five passes. Those 116 rushing yards gave Irby a new career-high. Bryson Wilks was another key rusher, rushing for 78 yards and one score.

Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Senatobia, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Greenwood was taken down by Senatobia 52-9 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bulldogs were down 30-7.
