Basketball Recap: Highland Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Highland won the last time they faced East and things went their way on Friday too. The Highland Rams took down the East Leopards 52-37. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Leopards are ranked 69th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Drisdom out in front who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Oberholtzer, who went 5 for 10 to rack up 11 points.

Drisdom wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Highland was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East only racked up four assists.

When it comes to explaining why East lost, don't look at Charlie Moore. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points. Moore is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Schneider, who earned 11 points.

Highland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for East, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14.

Highland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 73-55 win against Skyline on the 11th. As for East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-63 defeat against Olympus on the 11th.
