Basketball Recap: Polk Christian Prep Comes Up Short

On Wednesday, the Polk Christian Prep Stars lost to the Liberty Chargers on the road by a 69-51 margin. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while the Chargers are ranked 119th).

Julian Soria had a dynamite game for Liberty, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Soria is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Felix Cortijo was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points.

Polk Christian Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Liberty, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Polk Christian Prep will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Southland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. As for Liberty, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-46 defeat against Poinciana on the 13th.
