Baseball Recap: Gateway Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cypress Lake on Monday, Gateway came back down to earth. The Eagles lost 11-4 to the Bonita Springs Bullsharks on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Bullsharks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Jadon Torres was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Patrick Peterson was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Bonita Springs, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway will challenge Killian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.86 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bonita Springs, they will take on Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
