Recap: Wadley Bulldogs vs. Handley Tigers
If the Wadley Bulldogs were riding high off their 71-40 takedown of the Woodland Bobcats last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wadley took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Handley on Saturday. Wadley has struggled against Handley recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Wadley saw an underclassman step up: Frisco Robertson scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tedrick Burns, who scored 11 points.
Wadley's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Handley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wadley on the road again on Monday and play against Beulah at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Beulah will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Handley, they will head out on the road to challenge Talladega at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Talladega has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-1 during that stretch of close contests.
