Softball Game Preview: Burgin Bulldogs vs. Menifee County Wildcats

The Burgin Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Menifee County Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Burgin is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 20-10 to Thomas Nelson. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jocelyn Stanley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Menifee County challenged Fleming County on Wednesday. The Wildcats came up short against the Panthers, falling 16-1. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Grace Rogers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Burgin's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Menifee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Burgin took their victory against Menifee County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 18-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
