New Fairfield is 1-9 against Brookfield since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Rebels will face off against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. New Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
New Fairfield was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Stratford 6-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Rebels as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Briana Puff made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. Puff was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lindsey Briggs was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Sophia Callahan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Brookfield made sure to put some runs up on the board against Kolbe-Cathedral on Monday. The Bobcats never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Chloe Fitzgerald, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Sinapi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
New Fairfield's record is now 6-9. As for Brookfield, their record now sits at 13-3.
