Basketball Recap: Millbrook Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Grace Bardeen and Lauren Brown

Millbrook was the 50-42 winner over Holly Springs when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the Wildcats and the Golden Hawks didn't end well, with the Wildcats falling 46-30. The loss put an end to the Wildcats' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Millbrook had strong showings from Lauren Brown, who shot 45% from the field on her way to 15 points and eight rebounds, and Grace Bardeen, who posted eight points and 13 boards. Bardeen has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Holly Springs found their leader in sophomore Adaora Mogbo, who earned 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Mogbo. Another player making a difference was Amelia Milczanowski, who put up six points and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Millbrook fell to 2-1. As for Holly Springs, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Millbrook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-27 defeat against Southeast Raleigh on the 2nd. As for Holly Springs, they will challenge Apex Friendship at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
