Softball Recap: West Blocton Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

West Blocton hadn't done well against Bibb County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Choctaws. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

West Blocton got a great performance from Raylin Irvin as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, West Blocton let Katelin Algoe and Jacey Register run wild. Algoe scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Register scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Register a new career-high in doubles (two). Lillie Shadwick was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

West Blocton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Bibb County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-20.

West Blocton has already played their next match (against Holt), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Bibb County, they will square off against Marbury at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
