Heritage barely beat Seymour the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mountaineers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-3 win on Saturday. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Hudson Brown made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted over his last five games.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gaven French, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Sanders, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seymour only posted an OBP of .304.
Heritage pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Seymour, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
