Recap: Rock Canyon Jaguars vs. Douglas County Huskies
On Tuesday, the Rock Canyon Jaguars faced the Douglas County Huskies in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rock Canyon snuck past Douglas County with a 79-74 victory. Winning may never get old, but Rock Canyon sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Macoy Terry was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kasen Lehman, who scored 20 points.
Despite the loss, Douglas County still got an impressive performance from Reilly Guerra, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vaughn Baldwin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Douglas County were working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Canyon only racked up ten assists.
Rock Canyon's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for Douglas County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.
Rock Canyon will be playing at home against Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Douglas County, they will head out on the road to take on ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. ThunderRidge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Douglas County likes a good challenge.
