Jerek Gabriel and Bryan Desgrottes were among the main playmakers for Port St. Lucie as the former dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards and the latter went 5 for 10 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Desgrottes a new career-high in points.
Meanwhile, Tradition Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Lake Worth Christian on the road by a 70-55 margin.
Port St. Lucie will have to keep a close watch on Ethan Chevres and Avery Johnson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Tradition Prep's prior game. Chevres posted 19 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Johnson scored 25 points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Boule, who had six points.
Even though they lost, Tradition Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.
Port St. Lucie's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-15. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Tradition Prep, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Port St. Lucie has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Tradition Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
