Softball Game Preview: Socorro Warriors vs. Highland Hornets

The Socorro Warriors will take on the Highland Hornets at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Socorro will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Socorro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mescalero Apache on Saturday as Socorro made off with a 29-18 victory.

Socorro got a massive performance out of Mireya Estrada, who scored four runs and stole eight bases while getting on base in five of her nine plate appearances. Tatjana Castillo was another key player, getting on base in six of her eight plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and one double.

Socorro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Highland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against West Mesa, falling 20-0.

Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Socorro, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
