Baseball Recap: Mountain View Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wasatch, Mountain View was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Timpview Thunderbirds by a score of 8-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won four in a row.

Johnny Perkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mountain View is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Akin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

The victory got Mountain View back to even at 6-6. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will head out to take on Payson at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Mountain View is facing Payson at the right time seeing as Payson is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Timpview, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cedar Valley at 3:30 p.m. on April 8. Cedar Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.6 runs per game on average), something Timpview will no doubt try to take advantage of.
