Basketball Game Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Potomac School Panthers

Georgetown Day is 2-7 against Potomac School since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers will venture away from home to square off against the Potomac School Panthers at 4:15 p.m.

Georgetown Day is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: Maret, who was ranked 12th at the time (Georgetown Day was ranked eighth). Georgetown Day took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maret back in December of 2024. The defeat leaves the Mighty Hoppers without a win on the season.

Meanwhile, Potomac School waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 55-46 win over the Bees.

Potomac School's win came from a few key players Georgetown Day will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zora Burrell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Sabrina Anderson was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Georgetown Day's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Potomac School, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Things could have been worse for Georgetown Day, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-42 loss to Potomac School in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Can Georgetown Day avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
