Basketball Recap: Archbishop Carroll Takes Down Roosevelt in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Archbishop Carroll had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They snuck past the Roosevelt Roughriders with a 73-67 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2020.

Despite the loss, Roosevelt had strong showings from Ke'Mari Pointer, who on his way to 23 points, and Gabriel Hudgens, who to rack up 20 points. Pointer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. De'Marean Frazier was another key player, putting up ten points.

Archbishop Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 17-15. As for Roosevelt, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 22-9 record this season.

Archbishop Carroll won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gonzaga at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Archbishop Carroll's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches. Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
