Basketball Recap: Benedictine Bengals vs. Trinity Trojans

On Friday, Benedictine came up short against the Trojans and fell 49-40.

Several Bengals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Damone Darmond, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Mek Black was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.

Leading Trinity to victory were Eric Snow and Cooper Hughes. Snow scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Hughes scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Snow is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jshaun Richards, who scored six points along with six rebounds.

Benedictine has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Trinity, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benedictine won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. St. Edward presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bengals in Ohio (the Eagles are ranked 26th, while the Bengals are ranked 358th). As for Trinity, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bruins at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
