Basketball Recap: Covenant Life Skates Past Tournament Opponent with Ease

Covenant Life lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tournament Opponent, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. The Cougars blew past Tournament Opponent 94-37 on Saturday. With the Cougars ahead 49-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Covenant Life was led to victory by Elijah Hughes and Daniel Melendez. Hughes dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten assists, while Melendez almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. Hughes' morning made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Holden, who shot 47% from the field en route to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Covenant Life smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

The victory got Covenant Life back to even at 2-2.

Covenant Life will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Perry Hall Christian at 6:45 p.m. on December 2. The matchup will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
