Softball Recap: Oakman Takes a Loss

Oakman extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-18. They lost 10-0 to the Oak Grove Tigers. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Oakman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ila Kate Martin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

As for Oak Grove, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games.

On Oak Grove's side, the team relied heavily on Paighton Wright, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Wright a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Brand, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Oakman will take on Winfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oak Grove, they will challenge Hueytown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
