Softball Game Preview: Newberry Indians vs. Rudyard Bulldogs

The Newberry Indians will square off against the Rudyard Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Newberry took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against St. Ignace, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians skirted past the Saints 15-13. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Rudyard entered their tilt with Manistique on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Emeralds with a sharp 18-3 win. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly 15 runs.

Rudyard's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Newberry, they moved to 2-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Newberry suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Rudyard in their previous meeting on Monday. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
