Southold extends home losing streak to six

Recap: Southold Settlers vs. Smithtown Christian Knights

The Southold Settlers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to Smithtown Christian at home by a decisive 58-43 margin. Southold has not had much luck with Smithtown Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smithtown Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lorenzo Crilly, who scored 20 points. The game was Crilly's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah McCarter, who scored 15 points.

Southold's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Smithtown Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Coincidentally, Southold and Smithtown Christian will both be playing Shelter Island the next time they take the court. Southold will host Shelter Island at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Smithtown Christian will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th.
