Softball Game Preview: Broadalbin-Perth Patriots vs. Hudson Falls Tigers

Broadalbin-Perth is 0-3 against Hudson Falls since April of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Patriots will challenge the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Broadalbin-Perth has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Glens Falls hit Broadalbin-Perth with a seven-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots lost 17-3 to the Black Bears. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Broadalbin-Perth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrianna Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Hudson Falls came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Horses with a sharp 13-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jerusha Fairbanks, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Sawyer, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Hudson Falls pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Broadalbin-Perth, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Broadalbin-Perth suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Hudson Falls when the teams last played back in April. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
