Soccer Game Preview: West Potomac vs. South County

The West Potomac Wolverines will face off against the South County Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

West Potomac's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Fairfax with a sharp 3-0 victory. The final result isn't all the surprising considering West Potomac's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Fairfax are ranked 218th).

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday South County sidestepped West Springfield for a 3-2 win. The victory continues a trend for South County in their matchups with West Springfield: they've now won three in a row.

South County's win bumped their record up to 5-6-4. As for West Potomac, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3-1.

West Potomac was able to grind out a solid win over South County when the teams last played back in April, winning 3-1. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Stallions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
