Basketball Recap: Great Hope Baptist Comes Up Short

Great Hope Baptist was the 35-28 winner over Mount Calvary Christian Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Great Hope Baptist took a 38-23 bruising from the Mount Calvary Christian Academy Warriors on Saturday.

Leading Mount Calvary Christian Academy to victory were Carson Howell and Jentzen Wade. Howell posted 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Wade went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Howell is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Great Hope Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Mount Calvary Christian Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 3-9 record.

Great Hope Baptist will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Gill Grove Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gill Grove Baptist knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Great Hope Baptist likes a good challenge. As for Mount Calvary Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Heritage Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
