Basketball Recap: Freeport Takes a Loss

Freeport lost against Hononegah back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Freeport Pretzels took a 78-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hononegah Indians. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (61), the Pretzels still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Freeport lost, don't look at Kal-El Sims. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-12 en route to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Seward, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points and three steals.

Freeport dropped their record down to 13-18 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points over those games. As for Hononegah, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freeport and Harlem will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in Harlem's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games. As for Hononegah, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Boylan Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
