Softball Recap: Pikeview's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

PikeView hadn't done well against Greenbrier West recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers skirted past the Cavaliers 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Cavaliers back in March, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Shelby Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, PikeView saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Tupper, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

PikeView's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. As for Greenbrier West, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. PikeView will take on Sevier County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Smoky Bears have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Greenbrier West, they will face off against Midland Trail at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cavaliers surely won't give up without a fight.
