Basketball Recap: Waverly Takes a Loss

After soaring to 63 points the game before, Waverly was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 66-26 loss at the hands of the Pius X Thunderbolts. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Waverly lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ashton Heffelfinger, who posted eight points. Isaac Clarke was another key player, putting up seven points.

Michael Haith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pius X, going 8-for-12 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. What's more, Haith posted four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Isaiah Barnes also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

With the loss, Waverly broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-18. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. As for Pius X, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

Waverly does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pius X, they have already played their next matchup, a 76-33 defeat against Norris on the 28th.
