Baseball Recap: North Star Comes Up Short

North Star was the 7-0 winner over Berlin Brothersvalley when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars lost 12-5 to the Mountaineers on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly seven runs.

Andrew Retassie made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryson Durst, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for North Star and nudges their season record down to 1-5. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 2-5 Berlin Brothersvalley and 4-5 Meyersdale. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.

North Star didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 loss against Southern Fulton on the 22nd. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-1 defeat against Meyersdale on the 24th.
