Basketball Recap: Oak Ridge Skates Past Powell with Ease

Oak Ridge had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 68-40 victory over the Powell Panthers. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Panthers are ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Powell, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Oak Ridge and Powell will both be playing Halls the next time they take the court. Powell will host Halls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Oak Ridge will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
