Basketball Recap: Ty Zinke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lodi Academy over Monterey Bay Academy

After flying high against Delta Charter on Tuesday, Lodi Academy came back down to earth. The Lodi Academy Titans came up short against Monterey Bay Academy on Wednesday, falling 52-29. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Monterey Bay Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ty Zinke, who posted eight points in addition to 11 rebounds and three steals. Zinke is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Simon Rich was another key player, putting up four points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lodi Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Lodi Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Monterey Bay Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Lodi Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-46 loss against Pacific Union College Prep on the 23rd. As for Monterey Bay Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-36 defeat against College View Academy on the 24th.
