Softball Game Preview: Boyertown Bears vs. Perkiomen Valley Vikings

Boyertown and Perkiomen Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. Boyertown will be playing in front of their home fans against Perkiomen Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Boyertown's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.

On Friday, Boyertown got the win against Upper Perkiomen by a conclusive 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kyra Neiswender made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rielynn Carey, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden Reifsnyder, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Boyertown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Perkiomen Valley came up short against Spring-Ford on Thursday and fell 5-2. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Perkiomen Valley fell to 3-1. As for Boyertown, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Boyertown came out on top in a nail-biter against Perkiomen Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Boyertown repeat their success, or does Perkiomen Valley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
