Basketball Recap: Hillsboro Comes Up Short

Hillsboro was the 49-44 winner over Godley when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Hillsboro Eagles took a 37-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Godley Wildcats on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Hillsboro lost, don't look at Kameron Rose. Despite the final result, he posted eight points and 16 rebounds. Rose has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last five times he's played.

Even though they lost, Hillsboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Hillsboro has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season. As for Godley, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 6-23.

Hillsboro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-47 loss against Alvarado on the 7th. As for Godley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-24 defeat against Gordon on the 7th.
