NCISAA Charlotte Independent Schools recap Oct. 23, 2012
Charlotte Country Day was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Providence Day. The Buccaneers came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Charlotte Christian extended the longest winning streak in NCISAA Charlotte Independent Schools this week by beating Ravenscroft, 56-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Knights.
Byron Smith was the best wideout in the league this week as Charlotte Country Day topped the Chargers. Smith tallied three receptions for 133 yards. Akanimo Eyo helped Charlotte Country Day's passing attack out by catching two balls for 56 yards.
Eric Lynch put up the best numbers through the air as Charlotte Christian defeated the Ravens. He finished with a total of nine completions for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Lynch's favorite target this week was Bo Hines, who caught two passes for 68 yards.
Hunt Blanchat made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bob Witman's team beat Providence Day. The 5-foot-9 junior grabbed one interception and racked up one sack.
Michael Radford provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Buccaneers topped Bruce Hardin's team. He completed nine passes for 248 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 125 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Radford and Jimmy Kleitches Charlotte Country Day has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Radford leads the league in passing with 1620 yards, while Kleitches has rushed for 794 yards this season. Jason Estep's team's Hines leads the league in receiving yards with 520 on 31 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Chargers take on the Knights. At the moment, Providence Day is in second, while Charlotte Christian is in third.
The Knights took down Ravenscroft 56-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lynch ran for five yards in the win.
