Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Centennial's Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but Centennial's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Friday. They fell just short of the Malcolm Clippers by a score of 52-50. The loss put an end to the Broncos' undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, don't look at Devin Slawnyk. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points. The matchup was Slawnyk's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Owen Naber, who had 11 points.

Malcolm was led to victory by Preston Kucera and Carson Frank. Kucera put up 18 points, while Frank earned 15 points. Frank is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Cunningham, who posted seven points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Centennial fell to 6-1. As for Malcolm, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sutton at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Malcolm, they will welcome Louisville at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
