Iona Prep had won 12 straight games dating back to last season and Jacob Chiu did his part to make it 13 on Tuesday. The Gaels came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Xavier Knights with plenty of help from Chiu, who had eight digs and five aces. He is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Iona Prep wouldn't go down easily and took Xavier into a fifth set where they got it done with a 11-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-17, 25-14, 21-25, 15-4.

Leading Iona Prep to victory were Patrick York and Christian Vega. York had four digs and four aces, while Vega had 11 digs and ten kills.

They weren't the only good server: Iona Prep was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Iona Prep's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Xavier, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iona Prep will square off against Darien at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Xavier, they will face off against Regis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
