Baseball Game Preview: Elwood Panthers vs. Madison-Grant Argylls

Elwood is 1-9 against Madison-Grant since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Panthers will host the Argylls at 5:00 p.m. Elwood has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Elwood came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Alexandria-Monroe, falling 11-3.

Elwood saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Gordon, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brylen Mort was another, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Meanwhile, Madison-Grant didn't have quite enough to beat Lapel on Wednesday and fell 6-4.

Tripp Haisley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Madison-Grant has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Elwood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-21.

Elwood suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Madison-Grant in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
