Baseball Recap: North Callaway Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

North Callaway came out on top against Clopton on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Thunderbirds never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Thunderbirds have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Carter Moore, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Clopton off the board. Moore has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caleb Sheets was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chance Green, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for North Callaway and bumps their season record up to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Clopton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Callaway will venture away from home to face off against Mark Twain at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Thunderbirds are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Clopton, they are taking a road trip to take on Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
