Volleyball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

After flying high against Walsh on Tuesday, Springfield came back down to earth. The Longhorns lost 3-0 to the Kit Carson Wildcats on Thursday. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Springfield was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-14, 25-23.

When it comes to explaining why Springfield lost, don't look at Dakota Reid. Despite the final result, she had five digs and two aces. Reid is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season.

Springfield's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-3. As for Kit Carson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Springfield will welcome Cheraw at 2:00 p.m. on the 20th. Kit Carson has already played their next game (against Genoa-Hugo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
