Softball Preview: Camas Papermakers vs. Kelso Hilanders
The Camas Papermakers will head out on the road to face off against the Kelso Hilanders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Camas easily dispatched Heritage two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Papermakers fell just short of Prairie by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Sophia Chambers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season. Beth Conger was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Kelso never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against R.A. Long last Friday. They blew past the Lumberjacks 11-0. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Hilanders this season.
Kelso now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Camas, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.
