Baseball Recap: Pomeroy Has No Trouble Against St. John-Endicott/Lacrosse

13 must be Pomeroy's lucky number: they beat St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Pirates put the hurt on St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse with a sharp 13-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Pomeroy got a big performance out of Nolan Newberg, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The Pirates are undefeated when Newberg posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Cesar Morphin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pomeroy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Pomeroy back to even at 7-7. As for St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pomeroy will square off against Touchet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse, they will take on Walla Walla Valley Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.3 runs per game on average), something St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse will no doubt try to take advantage of.
