Volleyball Recap: Nigella Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Upper Cape Cod RVT over Bristol County Agricultural

Upper Cape Cod RVT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bristol County Agricultural Chieftains. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Chieftains when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Upper Cape Cod RVT took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-21, 15-9.

Upper Cape Cod RVT's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nigella Johnson, who had 20 digs. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Sophia Lopes was another key player, getting nine digs and four aces.

Upper Cape Cod RVT's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Bristol County Agricultural, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Upper Cape Cod RVT will head out to take on Old Colony RVT at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bristol County Agricultural, they will venture away from home to square off against South Shore Vo-Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Vikings have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
