Softball Recap: Elgin Takes a Loss

Glenbard South hit Elgin with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Maroons lost 11-1 to the Raiders. The loss continues a trend for the Maroons in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Ainesly Downing made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run.

Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Glenbard South, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

Coming up, Elgin will head out to face off against Round Lake at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.31 runs per game on average), something the Maroons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Glenbard South, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-13 loss against Fenton on the 9th.
