Basketball Recap: Cairo Drops Highest Score of Season Against Seminole County

Cairo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Seminole County Indians. One positive for the Syrupmakers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Cairo lost, don't look at Shaquara Mills. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Mills is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 13 or more in the last three games she's played. Zaniyah Graham also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Cairo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Zyi'Kiera King, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Seminole County. Equeasha Daniels was another key player, putting up ten points.

Cairo's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Seminole County, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Cairo has already played their next matchup, a 48-28 loss against Westover on the 17th. As for Seminole County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-32 victory against Miller County on the 17th.
