Basketball Game Preview: Winston Academy Patriots vs. Leake Academy Rebels

Winston Academy hasn't had much luck against Leake Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Winston Academy Patriots are taking a road trip to square off against the Leake Academy Rebels at 7:30 p.m.

Winston Academy is leaving town to face Leake Academy after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Winston Academy took a blow against Heritage Academy back in November of 2024, falling 51-20.

Meanwhile, Leake Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Park Place Christian Academy on Tuesday, taking the game 54-44. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Crusaders are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Winston Academy took a serious blow against Leake Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 65-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Leake Academy's Samuel Prince, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.
