Baseball Recap: St. Mary Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Mary can now relate to. They fell just short of Pope John XXIII by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The Gaels were not able to make up for their loss to Pope John XXIII from their previous meeting back in May of 2017.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Pope John XXIII, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.

Coming up, Pope John XXIII will face off against Morristown-Beard on Wednesday. The Crimson's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Pope John XXIII's hitters will have their work cut out for them. St. Mary will be paying especially close attention to Pope John XXIII's contest: after Pope John XXIII faces off against Mount Olive, they'll take on St. Mary again on Friday.
